August 2019 in Review & Welcoming the Sunday Series

Pinch punch first day of the month! September 1st has rolled around and I’m ready to activate my autumn mode. As I’m writing this it’s a beautiful sunny Sunday and I’m kicking this new month off on a positive foot.

It’s crazy to think I’ve only got a handful of these monthly reviews left until we’re leaping into 2020. August was probably the last full month of proper summer here in England which I’m almost grateful for. I’m excited for cosy evenings, winter coats and hot chocolates. I like taking a little bit of a different stance on these monthly reviews each time I write them, so I’m going to do a little roundup and then get straight into talking about the new blog series I’m going to be working on.

The first weekend of August was kicked off with a Segway experience for 2 at Grafham Water which was Lewis’s belated birthday present. It was a lot of fun, we didn’t fall off and we have some cheesy pictures to treasure the memory with.

I treated myself to a haircut which made me look more ginger than ever, but it’s felt so much better to have a ponytail that doesn’t feel like a deadweight. I feel like I pair haircuts with significant times and when I fancy a change – new hair, new start.

I was very kindly gifted a box of tasty fruit and nuts from a company called Gloriously Grown that have recently launched in Sainsburys. It was a really nice surprise and it was fun to get creative for the post I did on behalf of the box.

I’ve spent a few weekends back at home, and as always I treasure the time I get to spend with my little man, Max. We have 3 Jack Russells who are turning 12 very soon and I can’t wait to watch them eat their annual steak like little furry hoovers.

Last weekend was our last bank holiday of the year and the weather was burning bright like usual. I re-visited a gorgeous local village called Oundle, and explored Upton for the first time. Queue sitting on some hay bales.

I did start Couch to 5k and started to document it on Instagram, but I underestimated how difficult it can be to stick to when life can be so busy! I definitely don’t want to quit, but I might have to start from scratch again. I was also meant to get my half sleeve finished in August too, but due to an error with the appointment booking – I now have to wait another month before going under the needle. I’m still working hard in my driving lessons in the hopes of getting the good news after my test (and I’m still keeping the date a secret).

So there is my bitesize roundup of August. For quite some time now, I’ve been really keen on the idea of creating a blog series. I do still have my Chatty Tuesdays, but I wanted something that could get more of a discussion going. So I’d like to introduce to you…

Keeping in with the theme of my blog; a relaxed, safe and friendly space – I wanted to really focus on that and incorporate the voices of those inside and outside of the blogosphere. It’s a series designed to allow others to select a topic of their choice to talk about and/or educate others on. It’s a chance to create a discussion with others on a variety of different subjects to communicate about what we’re passionate about.

I would LOVE to hear from you if you’re interested over at my email of with the subject header ‘Sunday Series’. If you want to talk about veganism, vaginismus, online versus offline friendships, social media – literally anything, I’d love to have a conversation with you that you’d be comfortable sharing online. The internet can be a scary place, but we’re here to be barrier-busting and stigma smashing. So with a warm welcome to The Sunday Series, I’d love to hear your thoughts below.

I hope August was a good month for you, but if it wasn’t, September is ready and waiting. Thank you so much for reading.

Until next time,

Emily x
